Assistive Technology Training can help employers:
- To employ disabled people who have the skills to do the job but may need adaptive technology
- To retain a member of staff who has an acquired disability or a condition which has resulted in a need for adaptive technology
- With the everyday use of computers e.g. if users are studying, assistive technology could help make their studying easier

Since Shaw Trust supports disabled and disadvantaged people, our expertise is not limited to one group or a specific area of provision. This means we can offer help and support to employers, public service providers or small voluntary organisations.
We deliver training in:
Dragon Naturally Speaking For those who are unable use a keyboard or mouse this is a real lifeline to using a computer and ultimately staying in work. You can send e-mails and instant messages, surf the web, and create documents all by simply speaking. It allows users to dictate faster than typing, and can be more accurate as it doesn’t make spelling mistakes.JAWS (Job Access With Speech) A powerful accessibility solution that reads information on your screen using synthesized speech, to help blind and visually impaired users.
Read and Write Gold (textHELP), is an excellent, feature-packed tool for computer users with reading and writing difficulties, which helps them to construct words and sentences. Users can tell the software to read letters, words and sentences as you type, read out text on web pages and images.
Zoomtext, a magnification software tool that helps those who are visually impaired. It not only magnifies the screen but also reads all applications, documents, e-mails and web pages.

Shaw Trust is introducing SortSite - an automated accessibility testing tool from PowerMapper Software as part of their web accessibility services. PowerMapper Software is providing licenses and consultancy as part of their commitment to giving back to the community.
