The accreditation audit process is in three stages:
- Your site is technically audited using a state-of-the-art automated process
- The results of this test are then subjected to a manual technical audit to ensure accuracy
- Our team of user testers test your site using a variety of assistive technologies including but not limited to: screen readers, magnification, voice activated, switch access, keyboard only, pointing devices
Should you request, alternative platforms can also be included in the audit process.
Whilst your site is undergoing user testing, you and your team are invited to visit and work alongside the testing team on that day. This is an invaluable experience to help you to understand the way in which assistive technology users access the web and the scope/limitations of their respective software.
The testing teams
We have 2 testing teams and each team is made up of 6 individuals all of whom have different types of disabilities and some of whom use assistive technology to access computers.
We test to ensure accessibility for those people with:
- Low Vision
- Blind
- Colour Blindness
- Dyslexia
- Mobility impairments
- Learning difficulties
- Deaf
- Autistic Spectrum disorders
The Report
The results of all the test procedures, identifying and detailing all non-compliances, are collated, cross checked for anomalies and presented to you in a comprehensive report. Screen shots identifying areas of concern are included as well as advice and guidance on how to make the required adjustments to your site.
Next steps
When you receive your report you will be given a 6 month window during which you must complete the remedial works. You may use as much or as little of this window as you need.
As soon as you have made the adjustments, let us know and we will arrange to re-test your site. Providing all is in order at the retest, we will award the appropriate accreditation badge for your site as an electronic validation certificate giving the period of accreditation (12 months). |
